Anne Elliot as the Pre-Victorian Woman in Jane Austen's Persuasion : Embodying the Angel in the House and the New Woman in Pre-Victorian English Literature

Austen's Persuasion (1818), can be conceived as a bridge between the Romantic and the Victorian literary periods, especially concerning the portrayal of the female heroine; coming from the romantic heroine to the new notions of the 'Angel in the House' and the 'New Woman'. I propose to do a thorough analysis of Anne Elliot's character to prove how she can be seen as the pre-Victorian embodiment of the 'Angel and the House' and the 'New Woman' simultaneously. Therefore, Anne Elliot can be read as a transition character from early Austenian heroines towards the later proto-feminist characters of the Brontë sisters.Persuasió (1818), pot ser considerada una novel·la pont entre l'època del Romanticisme i l'era Victoriana de la literatura anglesa, especialment pel que fa la caracterització de les heroïnes, partint de l'heroïna romàntica vers les noves nocions de l'Àngel a la Casa i la Nova Dona. Proposo fer un anàlisi del caràcter d'Anne Elliot per demostrar que pot ser vista i llegida personificant ambdues nocions de l'Àngel a la Casa i la Nova Dona tot i ser una heroïna pre-Victoriana.
