Globalisation vs. social language awareness of Poles

The aim of the article is to discuss manifestations of language awareness of Poles which present them as representatives of both the “world society” and a local community. The social language awareness is an element of a category of social awareness, which accounts for the way how Poles perceive themselves as a society in the era of globalization. Language changes result from the free movement of goods, labour, services around the world, technological acceleration, cultural homogenisation, there appear new speech communities, like the Internet community. The process of globalization is observed in the increased influence of English lexis, changes in the model of language politeness, conscious violation of language norms on the Internet
