The aim of the article is to present few queries concerning extensively discussed issue of cultural defence. The point of reference is ideology of multiculturalism. Main focus is placed on an attempt to reconstruct and present presumably not fuIly realized assumptions underlying this strategy, inter alia concerning understanding of notion of culture, or "militant" ethnocentrism, by which criminal law can be characterized. It is also argued that consistent application of currently most common version of cultural defence will take effect in lesser legal protection provided to the members of cultural minorities.
