[[alternative]]Factors relating to the Utilization of the Partograph among Midwives in three Health Regions of The Gambia

[[abstract]]The purpose of this study was to explore the influential factors for the utilization of the Partograph in three health regions of The Gambia.120 Midwives were who giving maternity care in public health facilities in 3 health regions of The Gambia took part in the study using a convenient sampling method. Data was collected using a self –administered semi structured questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS soft ware version 18.0.Registered midwives and midwives fro west coast regions were more significantly knowledgeable about the utilization of the Partograph (34.5±2.502, p = 0.005; 33.28± 2.938, p = 0.000) respectively. In the same vein utilization of the Partograph was significantly related to the workplace of the midwives (x2 =12.835, p = 0.005). Availability of the Partograph was significantly different with the region of the midwives (x2 =14.813, p = 0.001).In conclusion, Knowledge level of the midwives about the utilization of the Partograph was good (80%) and that Partograph was readily available at almost all the health facilities (97%). Partograph was widely been utilized by midwives to monitor women in labour (78%) in three regions of The Gambia
