The paper is devoted to the modeling, analysis and optimization encountered in the design process of two-dimensional structural components made of fiber-reinforced composite materials subjected to service loading. The problem of optimal layout of reinforcing fibers in the composite in order to obtain the assumed mechanical properties of the disk is considered. The case of creation of linear and curvilinear fibers is discussed. The adequate model, relevant optimality conditions for this type of design problem are derived and the optimization procedure based on the evolutionary algorithm is proposed.
