Excerpts from the report: The Little Colorado River Basin covers an area of over 17.2 million acres or 26,964 square miles; 21,667 square miles in northeastern Arizona and about 5,297 square miles in northwestern New Mexico. It extends into portions of seven counties in two states. These Include Coconino, Navajo and Apache Counties, in Arizona; and Catron, Valencia, McKinley and San Juan Counties, in New Mexico. The Basin is bounded on the north by the San Juan Basin, on the east by the Rio Grande Basin, on the south by the Gila and Salt River Basins and on the west by the Lower Mainstem of the Colorado River.
