The article presents the results of a research that analyzes the construction of knowledge in higher education through practices in institutions and social organizations of social work in Spanish universities. Regarding the method, the universities where the degree is taught (37) are identified, all the subjects related to the “practices” (85) are analyzed through the teaching guides and, finally, the universe of the specific powers attributed to them (572). The results allow categorizing 18 specific skills, 10 transversal skills, 14 relevant professional skills and 6 areas of professional performance.
