This dissertation describes an efficient method to map air pollution in the Netherlands at a lot of different locations. Air pollution is usually measured at a limited number of locations, whereas many more locations can be measured with monitoring devices built into a car. This is useful because air pollution (for example ultrafine particles and black carbon) can differ strongly between locations, also if these locations are close to one another. Disadvantage of mobile monitoring is the fact you can only measure a few seconds at every location.
