Comportamiento mecánico de la mezcla asfáltica en caliente modificada con caucho mediante proceso por vía seca respecto a la mezcla asfaltica convencional

The present investigation was carried out in order to improve the mechanical behaviour of asphalt mixture through the incorporation of rubber so as to offer an alternative solution to the problems which are affecting the asphalt and as a consequence the asphalt layer. Having obtained the results of the aggregates and the characterization of the asphalt cement, immersion-compression test was carried out to the modified asphaltic mixture to determine the temperature and digestion time, also Marshall tests were carried out on the conventional and modified asphaltic mixtures using rubber to assess the mechanical behaviour. With the optimal designs of both mixtures, it proceeded to evaluate their behaviour through characterization and performance tests: the diametral compression test, also the resistance of compacted asphalt mixture which can be produced by moisture. Besides that, the resistance to degradation or cohesion loss in Cántabro test, rutting through the Hamburg wheel track test and resilient modulus test. The obtained results show improvements in the mechanical behaviour of the modified asphalt mixture, which let it to conclude that the incorporation of the rubber within a conventional mixture presents: less loss of resistance due to water effect, greater resistance to deformation, greater cohesion and resistance to shear, greater resistance to rutting and less damage by moisture, improves elastic behavior, as well as to present similar behavior in the resistance to the disaggregation of the mixture which turns into greater durability to aggressive agents and increases the useful life of the pavement.Tesi
