International audienceIn this paper, measurements of vertically Polarized electromagnetic surface waves over a smooth sea in HF band have been compared with theoretical models. The theories are briefly explained, with an accurately description of the measurement process. Some differences have been pointed outbetween the Bourlier’s rigorous method and Millington’s empirical method according to the measurements
