The meshless Diffuse Approximate Method (DAM) is for the first time formulated and applied to simulate the compressible Newtonian flow of an ideal gas in an axisymmetric tube with varying cross-sections. The problem is structured by coupled partial differential equations for conservation of mass, momentum and energy, and the equation of state closure. These equations are solved in primitive variables and strong form. DAM is formulated on irregular node arrangement by using the second and third-order polynomial shape functions and Gaussian weights, leading to weighted least squares approximation on overlapping local subdomains.
