Fermentation Quality of TMR Silage With Local Lactic Acid Bacillus Inoculant

Isolation and identification of local lactic acid bacillus (LAB) have been done to find total mixed ration (TMR) silage’s inoculant. Isolated was hold in anaerobic chamber used selective media deMan Rrogosa Sharp Agar (MRSA). Identification was done by purificatiob colony in sub-culturing petry disc. Colony forming, shape cell, and Gram staining were observed under microscop to get qualitative parameters of identification. pH value, lactic acid, acetic acid, propionic acid, and butiric acid content were determined as quantitative parameter after 30 days incubation of silages. The result showed that LAB could be found from fresh and dry of local Ciherang rice straw. Two isolates C1 and C2 from dry rice straw were chosen as TMR silage’s inoculant due to their condition of LAB characteristics; were Gram positif, rod, and homofermentatif. Implementation both of C1 and C2 in TMR silages could reduce pH , increase lactic acid content, and influent volatile fatty acid (VFA) content similar with commercial L. plantarum inoculant. Based on the result could be concluded that LAB local capable improved fermentation quality of TMR similar with LAB commercia
