KOMODIFIKASI KESENIAN REYOG DALAM DINAMIKA POLITIK LOKAL

The discourse on the reyog Ponorogo phenomenon has become a meeting point between art as a community culture or art as a political "tool". From a political perspective, reyog has become a major commodity used by local political elites to gain mass. Theoretically, reyog as a political commodity has fundamentally changed how the commodification initiated by Vincent Mosco has transformed into the commodification of power. The position of reyog art as a commodity between local politics and the masses, was able to change the formula more precisely in forming new theoretical propositions. The interesting side is that symbolic interactionism plays a role in forming a new theory to further describe how forms of communication emerge between the local elite, reyog, and the masses. Symbolic interactionism is strongly seen in the form of elite communication formed through certain symbols, so that both theories succeed in understanding and explaining this phenomenon. This study uses a qualitative research approach with the type of phenomenological research. Intensive research was carried out when the 2020 Pilkada strengthened because political campaigns emerged much more intensively. On the other hand, interviews and observations were conducted not only to understand reality from the actor's point of view, but to provide a balanced analysis and strengthen the findings of propositional theory
