PENGALAMAN KELUARGA DALAM MERAWAT ANGGOTA KELUARGA DENGAN COVID-19 KOMORBID DIABETES MELITUS

Supervisor : Anis Ika Nur Rohmah, M.Kep.,Sp.Kep.MB Background: Diabetics become more susceptible to infection due to hyperglycemia, impaired immune function, vascular complications and concomitant diseases such as hypertension, dyslipidemia and cardiovascular disease. Due to the decline in immune function, people with diabetes become easy to contract Covid-19. Problems in caring for family members at home who are infected with Covid-19 comorbid diabetes mellitus are more challenging, namely with an increased risk of more severe complications and causing death. Patients who have more severe symptoms, the role of the family is needed. The family always continues to provide encouragement and efforts to improve patient recovery. The purpose of this study is to explore family experiences in treating family members who have contracted covid-19 with comorbid diabetes mellitus. The research design used is qualitative research, carried out with a case study research strategy. Data collection was carried out with three participants, namely the patient's child as participant 1, the patient's wife as participant 2 and the patient himself as participant 3. Researchers use domain analysis techniques that obtain a general and comprehensive picture of objects / research or social situations The results of this study obtained 4 themes: 1. Recognize the symptoms of covid-19, 2. Family efforts for patient recovery, 3. Constraints in patient recovery, 4. Diet for disease recovery. The discussion of this study is the symptoms of covid experienced by patients in the form of fever, cold cough, no appetite, shortness of breath, to anosmia. The family's efforts in healing patients in the form of buying drugs to pharmacies and patients are taken for treatment to the hospital. The obstacles experienced by families in healing the disease are incompatibility in the selection of treatment and the difficulty of maintaining the patient's mentality due to the many obituaries of death in people with covid
