PENGARUH TERPAAN PEMBERITAAN PELECEHAN SEKSUAL DI LINGKUNGAN PERGURUAN TINGGI PADA KOMPAS.COM TERHADAP TINGKAT KECEMASAN MAHASISWA (Studi Pada Mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang Angkatan 2018)

The first mention of sexual harassment was in 1975. Since sexual harassment began to arise and occur often in Indonesia, Indonesians began to be exposed to news of such incidents, particularly through internet news portals. In 2021, the academic environment will be flooded with reports of sexual harassment instances. This study intends to examine if reporting sexual harassment in the university setting has an effect on the anxiety level of students and students in the University of Muhammadiyah Malang class of 2018, and if there are researchers who want to observe how much influence is felt. The mass communication effect theory, which includes affective, cognitive, and behavioral effects, was used in this study. The amount of student anxiety as a variable (y) and reporting on sexual harassment in the university setting as a variable (x) are the variables in this study. Because this study employs a descriptive quantitative research methodology with an explanatory survey method, the two variables above are used. This method is a research method that is used to find descriptions and relationships between variables in large and small populations. The data studied are data taken from samples from that population. According to the findings of the research, the hypothesis testing shows that there is an influence of exposure to sexual harassment news in the university setting on the level of student anxiety, with a significant value of 0.01 less than 0.05, indicating that H1 is accepted. The link between variables X and Y has a positive side where the relationship has a strong correlation. Male and female respondents are 0.743 and 0.505, respectively, so that the independent variable influences the dependent variable by 74.3 percent for male respondents and 50.5 percent for female respondents, with the balance impacted by other factors
