Cracks in cementitious materials lead to loss of mechanical and impermeability properties. Thus, developing self-healing concrete may be a means to make substantial savings. In this work, we have focused on characterising natural self-healing phenomenon, by ongoing hydration or calcite precipitation, using coupled experimental and modelling analysis. Three-point-bending tests, scanning electron microscope observations and micro-indentation tests were performed on mortar specimens.
