KEKASARAN PERMUKAAN DAN MIKROSTRUKTUR PADA VARIASI PENDINGIN PROSES PEMBUBUTAN BAJA ST 37

Based on experience in the field that cooling in the turning process is something that needs to be considered in addition to maintaining the quality of the final result, thus this research was made because of anxiety that the results of the turning process were not smooth so that this research was carried out to completion. The benefits of this research are to determine the surface roughness of the coolant variation in the ST 37 steel machine turning process and to know the microstructure of the coolant variation in the ST 37 steel turning process. The tools and materials used are brand emco mairer + Co maximat v13, Chisel Hss Bohler 1/2 x 6, a caliper with an accuracy of 0.05 mm, the surface roughness test instrument, and finally the light optical microstructure test instrument. The results of this study are known surface roughness variations of the coolant in the ST 37 steel turning process and the microstructural results of the coolant variations in the ST 37 steel turning process. From the graphic results of this study, from several variations of Dromus coolant, SAE 10w-40 oil, and water, It can be said that the 20 ml SAE oil with the amount of Ra 42.7428 m is smoother and vice versa and the microstructure with the 20 ml dromus has less ferric percentage.
