As the number of individuals aged 65 and older in the United States increases, adverse health outcomes are becoming a more pressing issue. Narrative medicine is “a commitment to understanding patients’ lives, caring for the caregivers, and giving voice to the suffering.” It has emerged as a powerful approach for strengthening clinicians’ therapeutic alliances with patients and helping them understand others’ perspectives.
