Background - The convention concerning the protection of World Natural and Cultural Heritage was adopted in 1972 (UNESCO, 1972), and July 2021, a total of one thousand one hundred and fifty-four properties from one hundred and sixty-seven Member States have been listed in the World Heritage List, and there are another one thousand seven hundred and twenty-nine properties on Tentative Lists (UNESCO World Heritage Sites, 2022).
