KRITIK SOSIAL DALAM LIRIK LAGU KARYA YAB SARPOTE: ANALISIS WACANA KRITIS VAN DIJK

This study aims to describe the analysis of three dimensions: text, social cognition, and social context in a song written by Yab Sarpote entitled “Jangan Diam, Papua”. The thoery applied in this study is the theory of critical discourse analysis approach of van Dijk. Data collection methods used are the listening method and the recording method. The results of this study showed that the song “Jangan Diam, Papua" written by Yab Sarpote contained social criticism that was present because of the ideology related to the limitations of freedom. Criticism in song is conveyed using straightforward and figurative language. The use of straightforward language aims to facilitate listeners in imagining problems in songs and avoiding different interpretations. Meanwhile, the use of figurative language is able to refine the meaning of a word, phrase, or sentence. Based on the results of interviews conducted with Yab Sarpote, the song was written involving the process of social cognition, namely schema and memory. In addition, the results of an analysis of social cognition seen from the YouTube comments field showed that Yab Sarpote was successful in conveying the message through the song.
