International audienceBackground and purpose The subcallosal artery [SCA, a branch of the anterior communicating artery (ACoA)] is not well described in the literature. However, the memory disorders that can occur after surgical repair of ruptured ACoA aneurysms might be related to infarction of the SCA. The objective of the present study was to perform a thorough anatomical assessment of the SCA. Methods The study was carried out over a 6-month period in a University Hospital's anatomy laboratory, using brains extracted from human cadavers. The brains were injected with colored neoprene latex and dissected to study the SCA's origin, path, termination, diameter, length, and vascularized territories.
