International audienceThis article provides an analysis of the first feature documentary created in Latvia after the Soviet annexation of 1940. Against a reading of the film as fully controlled by Moscow, it portrays spaces of autonomy concealed in the filming, writing of the script and editing, as well as continuity with independent Latvia in some aspects.
