This study aims to determine the effectiveness of behavioral group counseling modeling techniques to increasing emotional intelligence of grade X students at vocational high school 2 Yogyakarta. This research is quasi-experimental design with the non-equitable control group design. The sample was 12 students established using the purposive sampling technique. The data collection technique used was the scale of emotional intelligence. The data analysis techniqeus used in this study was the Wilcoxon non-parametric statistic and Mann Withney (U). The results show that modeling techniques are effective to increase emotional intelligence of grade X students at vocational high school 2 Yogyakarta (sign=0.004<0.05)
