Background: Lung cancer is the most lethal malignant neoplasm worldwide, with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounting for approximately 85% of the cases. More than half of NSCLC patients are diagnosed at an incurable stage. In the era of targeted and contemporary immunomodulatory therapies, cytotoxic chemotherapy retains an integral role in the management of advanced-stage/metastatic NSCLC, especially for patients lacking access to innovative anticancer drugs due to ineligibility and/or unaffordability.
