This audio recording features the 3rd Annual SCLC/W.O.M.E.N. Oratorical Contest on March 21, 1982. SCLC/W.O.M.E.N.'s annual oratorical contest is an event in which youth give speeches about a given topic. The purpose of the contest is to promote speaking ability and participation in discussion regarding issues affecting youth. This audio recording features high school students giving speeches on the topic, "Unity Among Black Americans", in which they compete to earn the opportunity of participating in the National Oratorical Contest at the 25th Annual SCLC Convention.
