This dissertation is a collection of three essays on the topic of strategic mediation of information. A recurring theme is a presence of the information intermediary influencing the interaction between informed and uninformed parties.Chapter 1 studies communication between an informed sender and an uninformed receiver with a presence of a strategic fact-checker. I show that if the cost of checking is small, the optimal fact-checking policy is full fact-checking; otherwise, no fact-checking is optimal. The receiver need not prefer a fact-checker with preferences aligned with the receiver to one with opposed preferences.
