Social media enables the public to openly discuss an ongoing event together. This can be conceived as a process to collectively shape a story about the event on social media. During the process, people tend to post the messages in favor of their own taste, which may collectively influence the formation of public opinion. Thus, we believe that identifying and understanding the roles of social media users in collective storytelling can inform researcher and practitioners to prevent undesirable outcomes or leverage positive impacts from social media conversation.
