Ett lugnare campus : En studie om zonindelning och högkänsliga studenters behov i en studiemiljö

This study is a degree project in information design with a focus on spatial design. This study is about investigating how students with a highly sensitive personality experience the study environment on Mälardalen's university campus. The purpose is also to investigate how, with the help of shape, color and symbols, one can communicate to the user which function the zones have. In today's modern society, there are a variety of workplaces and everyone has different opinions about how to work. An officetype that aims for everyone to be able to choose for themselves how they want to work is flex office. In connection with the rebuilding of the campus in Eskilstuna, Mälardalen University has created a campus with an activity-based study environment, which is a type of flex office. In a flex office, there are usually different zones that meet different types of needs in the workplace. In this work, we look at whether these zones are communicated in a good way and whether the study places meet the needs of a highly sensitive student. The activity-based study environment on MDU's campus is today difficult to understand and the zones are hard to find. Is an activity-based study environment the right environment for a highly sensitive student to study in? Think a-loud protocol, space analysis and workshop have been used as methods in the study to be able to give a deeper understanding of the problem and to create a design proposal based on the methods. The theories that have been used in the study are wayfinding and wayshowing, visual communication in the room and the meanings of study places and zoning.Detta arbete är ett examensarbete inom informationsdesign med inriktning rumslig gestaltning. Den här studien handlar om att undersöka hur studenter med högkänslig personlighet upplever studiemiljön på Mälardalens universitetscampus. Syftet är även att undersöka hur man med hjälp av form, färg och symboler kan kommunicera vad de olika zonerna har för funktion. I dagens moderna samhälle finns en mängd olika arbetsplatser och alla har olika åsikter om hur man ska arbeta. En kontorstyp som syftar till att alla ska kunna välja själva hur de vill jobba är flexkontor. Mälardalens universitet (MDU) har i samband med ombyggnationen av campus i Eskilstuna skapat ett campus med en aktivitetsbaserad studiemiljö, vilket är en typ av flexkontor. I ett flexkontor brukar det finnas olika zoner som tillgodoser olika typer av behov på arbetsplatsen. I detta arbete tittar man på om dessa zoner kommuniceras på ett bra sätt och ifall studieplatserna tillgodoser de behov som en högkänslig student har. Den aktivitetsbaserade studiemiljö på MDUs campus är idag otydlig att förstå och zonerna är svåra att hitta till. Är en aktivitetsbaserad studiemiljö rätt miljö för en högkänslig student att studera i? Think a-loud protocol, platsanalys och workshop har använts som metoder i arbetet för att kunna ge en djupare förståelse för problemet samt för att kunna skapa ett designförslag baserat på metoderna. De teorier som har använts i arbetet är wayfinding och wayshowing, visuell kommunikation i rummet och studieplatsers betydelser och zonindelning.
