Over the past decades, interest in biomaterials has grown rapidly. Natural fibre reinforced composites offer some great advantages such as wide availability, renewability, and biodegradability but lack of some other properties such as durability, good moisture resistance and dimensional stability. Wood has a strong cellulose reinforcement structure, which is often broken to individual fibres in wood polymer composites. The motivation of this work was to study if the natural cellulose reinforcement structure of wood could be kept intact and harnessed in wood polymer composites.
