Haasteet vapaaehtoisten johtamisessa

Objectives The research objectives included finding out what the case organization can offer to its volunteers in the future to better lead and motivate volunteers, and also finding out how the operations of the case organization could be formulated better in the future to make leading volunteers more efficient. The objective of this thesis was to understand volunteers, motivation, and volunteer management, how they are interrelated, what issues are involved, and how the problems regarding these might be solved in the operations of the case organization in Finland. Summary The research was concluded through questionnaires and acquiring information from the workers of the case organization. The questionnaires were based on previous research about volunteer motivation but new motivational factors, which were specific to the non-profit organization, were also discovered. Conclusions The research concluded that in general, the volunteers of the case organization are quite happy with their volunteer work. Most of the respondents do not believe that the operations of the organization would be especially demotivating, and the core operations of the organization are motivating to the volunteers.Tavoitteet Tutkimuksen tavoitteina oli löytää mitä case organisaation voi tarjota vapaaehtoisilleen tulevaisuudessa parantaakseen johtajuutta ja vapaaehtoisten motivaatiota, sekä miten case organisaation operaatioita voisi muokata paremmaksi tulevaisuudessa, jotta vapaaehtoisten johtamisesta tulisi tehokkaampaa. Opinnäytetyön tavoite oli ymmärtää vapaaehtoisia, motivaatiota ja vapaaehtoisten johtamista, miten ne ovat yhteydessä toisiinsa, mitä ongelmia näihin liittyen löytyy ja miten näihin liittyvät ongelmat voitaisiin ratkaista case organisaation operaatioissa Suomessa. Tiivistelmä Tutkimus toteutettiin kyselyjen avulla sekä käyttämällä organisaation työntekijöiden antamaa tietoa. Kyselyt perustuivat aiempaan kirjallisuuteen vapaaehtoisten motivaatiosta mutta uusiakin non-profit -organisaatiolle tyypillisiä motivaatiotekijöitä löydettiin. Päätelmät Suurin osa kyselyyn vastanneista ei ollut sitä mieltä, että organisaation operaatiot olisivat erityisen epämotivoivia, ja organisaation ydintoiminta on vapaaehtoisille motivoivaa. Tulokset voisivat kertoa, kuinka vaihto-oppilas organisaation vapaaehtoiset saattaisivat olla erilaisia muihin vapaaehtoisiin verrattuna
