Introduction: Salvage total laryngectomy (STL) is the most common treatment for recurrent laryngeal cancer after (chemo)-radiotherapy [(C)RT]. In this scenario, a higher rate of local wound complications, such as pharyngo-cutaneous fistula (PCF) and pharyngo-esophageal stenosis (PES), is generally expected.
