As the chapters in this edited collection demonstrate, the global pandemic has had a considerable impact on Academic English at universities around the world. The areas that have experienced the most impact include technical capability and readiness, pedagogic adaptations to online teaching, existing working patterns, and assessing learning. The 21 chapters in the collection offer examples of how academic English practitioners, in a range of different higher education contexts, rapidly and effectively responded to the challenges posed by the pandemic in these areas
