The first chapter of this thesis presents the theoretical foundations upon which the Higgs mechanism and the characteristics of the boson, as they result from the standard model. The second chapter reports on the experimental research on past, ongoing and planned, to discover the Higgs. The third shows the characteristics of the LHC and those of the CMS detector, both at the end of construction at CERN, focusing on particular parts of the detector implemented to search for the Higgs via the channel H -> ZZ * -> +2- second, that is to say about the tracker and the calorimeter ECAL electronics.
