L'analyse statistique implicative et son utilisation en sciences humaines : apports à la recherche en psychologie interculturelle

The construction of identity is very complex and ambiguous for the people living in such areas. This research was aimed at studying the way identity is built on the borderline between Uruguay and Brazil, from a linguistic point of view, focusing on frontier dialects. We wonder what influence dialects such as Uruguayan Portuguese (UP, commonly known as portuñol) and its Brazilian counterpart (Português Gaúcho da Fronteira: PGF) have had in terms of building the identity of the people living on the borderlands. Three research tools have been used, namely a sense-of-belonging scale (geographic and linguistic), semi-structured interviews, and a projective test inspired by the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT). Through the use of Statistical Implicative Analysis (SIA), we have observed that, according to the similarity tree, there is no apparent correspondence between living in the borderlands and speaking borderland dialects. The cohesive tree shows a connection between the geographical sense of national belonging and national identity. Moreover, and via this method, we have found no cohesion between portuñol and the other items in the sample. This must be due to the fact that this dialect lacks recognition by those who live by the border as well as those who do not. Therefore, the results show that, even though there may be a connection between geographical identity and linguistic identity in the overall construction of a person's identity, when we look at the statistics we see that this relationship is characterized by rejection. Accordingly, the stronger a person's sense of belonging to the frontier is, the stronger their disregard for portuñol will be. Since the negative stereotypes associated to the Uruguayan dialect portuñol do not apply to its Brazilian counterpart (PGF), it must be noted that the relationships towards these dialects are different depending on which side of the border we are. The border brings to mind several words to its inhabitants, such as unity, friendship and tranquility; however, certain implicit conflicts can be observed. Considering the results we have gathered in this specific borderland area, we could ask ourselves the following question: What role is to be attributed to linguistic minorities in this globalized world where homogeneity seems to be the norm?.Les zones frontalières constituent des espaces où la notion d'identité prend une signification singulière. La construction identitaire de la population qui s'inscrit dans ce territoire relève d'une grande complexité et d'une grande ambiguïté. Le but de cette recherche est d'étudier la construction identitaire dans la zone frontalière qui se trace entre l'Uruguay et le Brésil, à partir d'une dimension linguistique, telle que la présence de dialectes frontaliers. Nous nous demandons quelle est l'influence de ces dialectes appelés Portugais de l'Uruguay (PU, populairement appelé portuñol) et Português Gaúcho da Fronteira (PGF) sur la construction identitaire de la population frontalière. Pour cela nous avons utilisé trois outils méthodologiques tels qu'une échelle d'appartenance territoriale et linguistique, des entretiens semi-directifs et un outil projectif inspiré du T.A.T. Grâce à l'utilisation de l'Analyse Statistique Implicative, nous avons pu voir que d'après l'arbre de similarités, il n'y a pas de similarités entre le fait d'habiter à la frontière et le fait de parler les dialectes frontaliers. L'arbre cohésitif nous montre qu'il existe une cohésion entre l'appartenance territoriale nationale et l'identité nationale. De plus, et grâce à cette méthode, nous avons observé que le portuñol n'établit aucune cohésion avec le reste des items présentés à l'échantillon. Cela est surement du à la non-reconnaissance qui existe envers ce dialecte, de la part de frontaliers et non-frontaliers. Ainsi, les résultats montrent que bien qu'il existe un lien entre l'identité territoriale et l'identité linguistique dans la construction identitaire du sujet, si l'on regarde au niveau statistique, nous voyons que c'est un lien de répulsion. Cela voudrait dire que plus la personne affirme qu'elle habite à la frontière, moins elle affirme qu'elle parle le dialecte portuñol. Vu que les stéréotypes négatifs associés au dialecte uruguayen PU ne sont pas présents au sein du dialecte brésilien PGF, la relation envers ces dialectes, n'est pas la même, selon que l'on soit d'un côté ou de l'autre de la frontière. La frontière évoque pour ses habitants les mots union, amitié et tranquillité, cependant des conflits non-dits qui sont de l'ordre de l'implicite peuvent être repérés. Vu les résultats que nous avons obtenu dans cette espace frontalier spécifique, nous pourrions nous demander quelle est la place attribuée aux minorités linguistiques dans ce monde globalisé où l'homogénéité semble être la norme
