Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) has become a standard for some combustion systems. The objective of this study is to assess the effects of recirculation of combustion gases and oxygen enrichment on a turbulent swirled non-premixed CH₄ / air flame. This investigation focuses on the flame stability, the pollutant emissions (NOₓ and CO) as well as the dynamics of the flow. The technique (EGR) consists in redirecting part of the combustion gases in the furnace or the burner in order to modify the conditions in the combustion zone by lowering flame temperature in order to reduce NOₓ formation.
