International audienceA strange Mongolian scroll is preserved at the library of the Institut des Hautes Etudes Chinoises, Paris. Composed of a handwritten text dated 1809 and twelve illustrations, this document reports the mission to Lhasa of a prince from Inner Mongolia, appointed ambassador by the Manchu emperor in 1808 in order to supervise the establishment of 9th Dalai lama. The roller, probably intended for the personal records of the Mongolian prince, gives us an account of the events in conformity with the imperial vision.
