Fatigue de matériaux hétérogènes et à gradients induits par le procédé ou l'environnement : Caractérisation rapide et dimensionnement des élastomères et thermoplastiques chargés

The first part of this document summarizes my professional activities; the second one describes the research activities lead since 2005, on the basis of articles published in international journals. These research activities deal with the materials behavior and the characterization of the so called " Process-Part-Environment-Material " interactions. During the life cycle of a product (processing and use, mainly), couplings between the service conditions (thermo-mechanical loadings, environment) and the microstructure, influence strongly the short or long term response of the material and, consequently, of the structure. The main objective is to describe these links and to assess constitutive laws and failure criteria, including the cases of complex loadings or fatigue. A focus is especially given on the concern of speeding-up the characterization for both the fatigue and ageing properties. These approaches can be applied considering the mean response of a given volume, but are also suitable to investigate the numerous scales involved, from the basic physical mechanisms to the structure response, thanks to the description of the thermo-mechanical and micro-structural gradients.La première partie de ce document décrit mon parcours professionnel, la seconde synthétise les activités de recherche menées depuis 2005. Ces activités de recherche portent sur l'étude du comportement des matériaux et sur la caractérisation des interactions " Produit - Procédé - Environnement - Matériau ". Lors de la mise en œuvre ou de l'utilisation d'un produit, des couplages apparaissent entre les sollicitations (thermomécaniques ou d'environnement) et la microstructure, qui influencent fortement la réponse immédiate ou à long terme du matériau et donc de la structure. L'objectif est de pouvoir caractériser ces couplages et de proposer et valider des lois de comportement et des critères de ruine, y compris pour des sollicitations complexes ou de fatigue. L'accent est mis en particulier sur l'accélération des démarches de caractérisation, qu'il s'agisse de fatigue ou d'effets d'environnement. Ces démarches s'appliquent de manière moyenne sur le volume considéré mais permettent également d'investiguer les différentes échelles impliquées, des mécanismes physiques à la réponse de la structure, au travers de la caractérisation des gradients de propriétés microstructurales et thermomécaniques
