The formation of synapses follows different steps including synaptogenesis and maturation. Thesedifferent steps depend on coordinated pre- and post-synaptic assembly. Pre-synaptic proteins andionotropic glutamate receptors play a central role in these processes. During my thesis, I have beeninterested in the implication of the presynaptic protein Bassoon in the maturation of the hippocampalmossy fiber to CA3 pyramidal cell glutamatergic synapses.
