Performance nutrition and appropriate recovery are important components of success for the tennis professional. While there is limited tennis-specific scientific information, there is an increasing amount of research that is relevant. Although it is difficult to investigate the effects of nutrition during a match, nutritional strategies are gleaned from direct investigations of dietary components and simulations of play. The development of a nutrition plan, including fluid balance, and consideration of how this may differ across the development pathway are obviously integral to successful performance.
