[English] In June 2018, Dr. Duncan Cook (Australian Catholic University), together with Leila Donn and Dennis Baldwin, carried out research in the region immediately north of the El Zotz archaeological site with the goal of locating cave systems in the karst landscape. as part of new studies of the paleo-environment in the region, under the direction of Sheryl Luzzadder-Beach and Timothy Beach. The project used data from the Pacunam LiDAR Initiative (PLI; Canuto et al. 2018) to extract a series of depression profiles based on visual inspection of the terrain to try to identify cave entrances.
