Sustainability reporting and sustainable HRM

The aim of this chapter is to link the internal measurement of sustainable HRM to external reporting and communication with stakeholders. Key international reporting guidelines – such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards and the UN Global Compact Communication on Progress (COP) – will be discussed and their link to sustainable HRM highlighted. Whereas these guidelines provide an incentive for organisations to report about sustainability-related practices, they do not prescribe performance standards or measure the achievement against them. However, three reporting tools that have emerged over the last decade – B-Corps, the Economyof-the-Common-Good and the Future Fit standards – provide performance standards as well as transparency requirements and therefore offer a more challenging level of adherence
