International audienceThe enthusiasm or distrust for 'convergence culture' and 'digital natives' can now be discussed in light of research on the effective practices of users. This article based on two complementary fields of research (a scientific project and an educational project) led by two research teams, examines the uses of social media by young French people. In studying three major issues: the evaluation of information, digital identity management and length of connection, the analysis reveals a true accessibility and also greater challenges for users in terms of skills.
