Modern slavery, denoting acute exploitation of people for personal or commercial gain, is said to affect over 40 million people around the globe at any given time, making it a global issue that requires coordinated cross-sectoral and integrated responses. Some efforts have been made to that effect, including emerging legislative regulation at domestic and regional levels.
