With changing demographics, age related diseases such as dementia will increase in importance. Identification at early or even pre—clinical stages has important implications for treatment. The aims of this study were to examine the prevalence and incidence of dementia in an Australian population and to identify if pre-clinical syndromes for Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia and Parkinson’s disease dementia exist
