Background Intramedullary nailing is the method of choice for diaphyseal fractures of the femur and tibia and is also commonly used to treat trochanteric hip fractures. Perioperative imaging is essential for visualising adequate reduction, achieving an optimal entry point (EP) and performing distal locking (DL) of intramedullary nails.
