Diabetes mellitus has emerged as a major public health problem with pandemic growth as the International Diabetes Federation estimates that there were 415 million diabetics in 2015 with that number reaching 642 million by 2040, affecting all regions of the world. Globally we are all interconnected when we deal with problems of climate change, water shortage, HIV or Ebola.
