Background & Objective: Phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) is a tumor suppressor gene located at chromosome 10. PTEN is a regulator of the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway that inhibits cell proliferation and promotes apoptosis. PTEN loss of function occurs in a spectrum of cancers, including colorectal adenocarcinoma.
