International audienceObserving information systems projects shows that information systems engineering (ISE) methods are underused. The iAMF project aims at (a) tracing stakeholders' activities to identify whether this statement is true and (b) proposing more efficient ISE methods. To trace stakeholders' activities, we need a tool able to record any computerized actions - as opening applications, modifying documents, compiling programs, etc. This paper presents a review of trace-based tools that was undertaken to address the issue of recording information systems engineering methods enactment. We followed the MADISE decision making approach to select the most appropriate trace-based tool for the iAMF project
