Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a common multi-factorial disease. It is influenced by dietary factors, and inflammatory markers appear to predict outcomes. The dietary intake of patients at coronary risk and controls was assessed by food frequency questionnaire. Dietary macro- and micronutrient intake was related to plasma antibody titres to heat shock proteins. Dyslipidaemic patients (n=238) were recruited from the Lipid Clinics of a local NHS hospital, Guildford. Demographic features, including the prevalence of CHD risk factors such as hypertension and obesity, were typical of a Lipid Clinic population.
