In this paper distributed space time codes (D-STBCs) are applied within an asynchronous cooperative wireless relay network to achieve significant performance gain for the case of two relay nodes. Since interference at symbol level is an issue that reduces the performance gain in cooperative relay networks, a parallel interference cancellation (PIC) detection scheme at the destination node is applied to overcome the impact of imperfect synchronization among the cooperative relay nodes.
